Congratulations to Adartis Animal Health, Herndon, which was selected among six competing health and biotechnology companies in a statewide business plan pitch competition as the winner of a $25,000 grant from the state. Adartis Animal Health develops innovative biotech solutions by vets for vets. A lead product, Kalvatin, is based on an enzyme isolated in nature which is effective in counteracting viral and bacterial infections, and currently has dental and dermal applications.

Other finalists in the health/biotech pitch competition were GOGO Band, Attention Point, Cardinal Mechatronics, , Sanyal Biotechnology and Track Patch 1 Corporation.

The competition was held in the IMAX Theater of the Virginia Beach Aquarium as part of the five-day statewide Virginia Velocity Tour, designed to provide visibility and seed funding to promising startups throughout Virginia in sectors of high growth and regional strength. Other Tour stops for competitions featuring companies from other industries and fields were Charlottesville, Northern Virginia, Richmond and Roanoke.
